I need help with BootCamp

I'm really sorry for double posting this thread, but I just saw that board after I created my first thread and seeing as I don't know who mods, I'm creating it again here. Could a mod please delete the thread I made in Basic Mac Help please?

Here is my problem:

I know this question was probably asked 1000 times, but I really need help and I'm not sure wich thread has the answer to my question.

So I downloaded Bootcamp on my macBook. I copied the Bootcamp file on a USB key. I tried to copy the file as well on a blank CD, but it won't read the CD.

I have a file caled SecureII with 2 docs called Mac and Windows on it. I copied it on my mac's desktop. I don't know what to do with that file.

I restarted my laptop, pressing the option key, but only the Mac OS X system appeared. No windows XP icon.

So basically, I got the files, but I don't know what to do with them. I might be missing something, might have missed a step...

So if anyone knows what I have to do, please tell me. Give me steps and material needed. Thank you.

Um, did you read the BootCamp User Manual? Why would copy BootCamp to a thumbdrive?

The Bootcamp user manual....Well there were files that came with the assistant to help me getting Windows up, but I don't quite understand what they want me to do.

Perhaps you guys can just tell me the next 3 step right after having completed what I had to do with the assistant. I'll try to figure out the rest by myself.

Ok, so this is assuming that you went through the BootCamp Assistant and have the Windows (XP or Vista) CD in your CD drive. When you click start it should've shutdown and started from the Windows disc.

Now just go through the Windows OS install process. The Manual says:

WARNING: Do not create or delete a partition, or select any partition other than partition C: (Windows XP) or partition 3 (Vista). Doing so may delete the entire contents of your Mac OS X partition.

So if installing XP, pick partition C. If installing Vista, pick partition 3. If you are installing XP, there is an extra step, you have to format the partition. Once all that nasty stuff is done you're in for a long wait. Let Windows do it's thing: it should restart once or twice automatically and continue the install.

Windows has a "setup wizard" to setup your Windows account. Go through that and start up.

Insert your drivers CD (the one you burned using the BootCamp Assistant) and it should install all on it's own. Just sit back and watch until it is all done.

Now shut down and turn on your computer while holding the "alt/option" key. Once you see 2 icons (Mac and Windows) you can let go. Click on the Windows one and enjoy.

omfg what are you doing?

bootcamp partitions the hdd and burns a driver disk for post installation, why would you put that on a thumb drive?

Do you even have a windows installation disc?

You don't need to put anything on a thumb drive.

So you've downloaded the assistant. Install that by double clicking on it.

After that's done, navigate to Applications/Utilities/Bootcamp Wizard (or something like that for the last one, can't recall)

Run that, and it'll take you through the procedure of partitioning the hard drive, and will also ask you to insert a blank cd to burn the relevant drivers onto.

After this, you need to insert your Windows XP SP2 /Windows Vista installation cd, and the computer will reboot into the normal Windows installation.

After installing Windows, put in the cd you burnt using the Bootcamp Assistant, and follow the instructions on the disk to install the drivers.
