So i have a friend that will be able to get me an iphone at launch. The only problem is that i live in Canada. So i'll have an iphone at launch but I just don't know what i'll be able to do with it. I don't want some "phone unlocking expert" up here to unlock it. if it's even possible. So i don't know if i should tell him to go ahead and get me one and risk not being able to activate it up here. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Steve

If I were you, I wouldn't get one right away. I'd sit back and wait and see what iPhone unlocking/hacking scene looks like, and not get one until there are confirmed cracked iPhones working on non-AT&T networks. But then that's a bit too much money for me to spend on the hope that it may work, but with no guarentees.

I think don't risk it by wasting your money. Some of the features won't work with your carrier even if you can get a SIM into it.

Just have patience and wait till they get to Canada, save your money for the right time.

Thanks

Thanks for the voices of reason. I've just been going crazy waiting for some Canadian carrier news.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPhone cracked soon, but I'd just wait until that happed before rushing out and buying one, unless you're one of those capable of doing the cracking.
