Hello - I use a mac mini - 2.3 core i7 - intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.

I have been using CRT monitors -

Now - a 19 inch View Sonic ( my back up )
because my Apple Studio Display 20 inch CRT ... died .

I'd like to buy a flat screen - but I really feel like I need some help
on what specs I should be looking for.

I do Graphic Design, so I'm in Illustrator and Photoshop all day long,
so I nned something that is at least as good as my CRT ?

Yesterday a friend gave me a 19 inch flat screen but it runs at 720 p
and compared to the CRT View Sonic that I'm using now, I would be going backwards in quality
if were to use it .

So I need to buy one . ( I'm assuming I can find similar or better image quality as/than my CRT ? )

The question is -

Can you get a flat screen that looks better than a CRT ?

What should I look for ?

The 'free' flat screen wanted to run at 60 hrtz - my CRT is running 85 hrtz .

How many hrtz can my intel HD Graphics 4000 ( mac mini i7 ) run ???

Does the hrtz of a flat screen matter ? because most of the 1080p ones
that I see for sale new on-line are 60hrtz ?

What are some of you folks out there with mac minis like mine
running for a monitor ?

"Can you get a flat screen that looks better than a CRT ?"

Yep.

But... "Can you get a flat screen that scale better than a CRT ? "

I don't think so.

"What should I look for ?"

You should only look at IPS screen panels, take care of the % of sRGB and Adobe RGB reproduction, it will matter in your work. The rest depends on how much money you want to spent.

For low budget monitor I will go for something like the Asus VX229H, but check it for light fuges before buying if possible.

"How many hrtz can my intel HD Graphics 4000 ( mac mini i7 ) run ???"

You need to find your CPU model and then search it on intel data base. 60hz is fine for working with still images.

"Does the hrtz of a flat screen matter ?"

It matters but I will say only if you are a profesional gamer.
