Hey,
For college, im 15 at the moment, I will need a laptop... and my Dad has been constatly trying to persudae me to spend £300- £400 on a Windows based laptop, however, I have tried the Mac's and OS X at my local Apple Store and have been stunned and amazed at the quality and stuff like that of eveything.

In some ways my Dad is right about Windows laptop's... they're cheap... they work (just)... everything I have at the moment on the PC will work on a Windows laptop... and I totally agree with all of this...

But I don't want to be like everyone else... with a tacky, standard, slow, plain Windows Laptop... I want to be different... and I love Mac's and if I were to get one I would buy a MacBook...

The only problem is the money... as I am only 15, it is very hard to find a job, and most of my money I get is used to go ou with friends.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get £700 within the next year?

Thank You Sooooooo Much

Yes, save the money you get and get a job somewhere (I worked when I was 15).

you win the "most worthless post of the year" award! use your own common sense and you should be able to answer this "question" on your own w/out having to post on an internet forum asking for help.

Let's see... you're 15, AND you want to be original. That's shocking. And I bet your parents "just don't get you."

Three things:

1) Have you ever been to a coffee shop? And you still think a macbook will make you look original? Really?

2) If you really must have it, the above poster makes a good point about making lots of money by turning tricks. Do you live near a church?

3) As for actual advise, if you really want a macbook, I would buy a refurb (but it might not be much less than with your student discount). Talk to your dad about Boot Camp ( http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ ) to ease his compatibility worries at no additional cost. Try working more hours and going out with friends slightly less, then see if you can get your father to give or even lend you the rest and pay him back in increments. Putting more effort into this and making some sacrifices will likely get you more support from your parents.
