Hello Mac people! This is my first post ever on this site and I wanted to get some opinions on a iMac I was looking on buying. Sorry if this is not the right place to post this I can try to move the thread or something. So let me get down to business these are the things things I want my iMac to be capable of:

FPS games (minecraft CS:GO)
IntelliJ (Programming application)
Checking email social media etc...

Maybe in the future I may purchase Final Cut Pro X

Here is the current specs of the iMac im looking on purchasing: https://gyazo.com/cd625f3117bea8df48d2ac92d32c1120

if you guys think maybe I should keep saving and go for the Core i7 I will do that.

Cheerio,

Hey dellman, good to see you're interested in joining the Mac side of things.

It's a lot nicer over here, not to mention more user friendly!

I'm not too informed on the gaming scene, but that iMac you're interested in buying has a little weakling baby integrated gpu.

I doubt you'll be running many games with that. A powerful GPU is the most important component when it comes to gaming.

The 27 inch options have more powerful discreet GPUs.

Additionally, you seem to be eyeing one with a 1tb fusion drive. Do not get that one! It only has a puny little 24gb flash component, may as well have none!

Might I suggest the 256gb SSD option, or if you need the internal storage, the 2 tb fusion is great too! It has a full 128gb of super fast PCIe flash.

You won't get the best gaming performance but it will be the equivalent of a low to mid end mobile dGPU, so the 640m found in the surface book sort of level if that helps.

The core i7 won't help for anything you say you want.

To be honest with gaming in mind the 27 inch is the way to go.

21" 4k iMac, with a 1TB fusion drive and a iGPU is not a configuration I'd choose for graphically intense applications.

I think you need faster storage, such as a SSD or at the very least a 2TB Fusion drive. The 1TB fusion drive only has 24GB of flash storage and its using a 5400 rpm drive.

The iGPU is a decent integrated GPU, but I think playing games or other GPU intensive apps will be too much for it.

Just my $.02

Let me correct myself, I'm looking on playing a sandbox game. I am not interested on playing grand theft auto 5, lol.
