So I just got my 4th gen and I'm loving it. But as we all know, the back is the most easily scratched thing in the universe.

I need some help on deciding what case to get. My price range is about $20. I previously had a DLO clear hardshell case (for my 1st gen, when I still had it) that snapped on in the front and the back. It covered every single part the device except for the bottom (dock connector & headphone jack)...but no case covers that.

I would like something similar to that. My preference would be a rubberized hard case, because If I got just a hard plastic case, it would probably scratch up the back since it would be hard plastic vs the back of the touch. I don't really want a softshell case because they don't really have the support to stay on.

A two piece case would be nice...something with a front enclosure or a slide on case with a top piece and a bottom piece that lock together. The reason I want a two piece case is because with most of the case reviews (on amazon) theres at least 1 reviewer that says the case isn't completely snug and can easily come off.

I'm pretty skeptical on the cases that just snap on the the rear becasue IMO is seems like they would just fall off (especially the silicone ones)-correct me if I'm wrong.

So are there any two piece cases (back and front enclosure) that you guys recommend? Or are there any cases that you guys have that fit perfectly on the touch without a worry of it falling off?

Thanks!

I would suggest the Griffin Reveal, all though it does not meet all your standards. I can't think of a snap case released yet, unless you want to go HongKong. The Griffin Reveal is a case with a polycarbonate back and a rubber (or other bendable material) siding which you just like kinda wiggle onto the iPod and it just keeps on. I haven't seen any complaints about it being non-secure. It's $25.

Not many case makers have products for the 4G yet, the main ones I know of is Belkin, and Griffin. Speck and Switcheasy don't have anything for the 4G.

Do they have it on amazon? Because amazon has it for the iPhone 4 for only $9 but I can't seem to find it for the 4th gen touch.

I do not see it... Odd. I would think it would be there soon. They have alot of other cases by Griffin for iPod Touch 4G. But it wold probably bee the same if not close to the price straight from Griffin.

Check out this case on ebay:

Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) material- even better than rubber.
Only $2.51 including a screen protector and cloth. I have ordered one and I will report back when I receive it. I want to have the case here when I buy my touch, so that the minute it comes out of the box, it goes straight into the case.:apple:

So I went to bestbuy today to pick up a griffin reveal since the price just dropped from $25 to $20. Just as I was about to pick it up off the shelves, when the case next to it caught my attention; the Griffin Outfit Gloss. This case has the same exact overall shape with the same cutouts as the reveal, but it's a two piece, hardshell polycarbonate case. What really caught my attention was the fact that it is a two piece case. You slide the bottom part and the top part of the case on and they lock together. I'm very pleased with the fact that it elevates the screen slightly above the ground so you don't risk scratching the screen when setting it down on its front.

One thing I noticed however was that this thing is skin tight to the touch. This really worried me because every time I put the case on and took the case off (which took some effort due to the extremely limited wiggle room) I thought i was scratching the back. But then I realized that the inside of the case is soft and somewhat rubber-like. That means that when I take off/put on the case, it wont scratch it up the back. It also provides excellent grip compared to just regular hard plastic so the case will have no problem staying on, and it the event of a dropping of the ipod, it will absorb some of the shock.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this case. Especially since I got it for only $21.xx since they matched fred meyers 15% off all ipod accessories promo.. Not to mention it comes with a stand.

Cool. Nice review. Personally, I typically don't like clear cases (Griffin Reveal being an exception), so I think I'm going to wait for Switcheasy. And maybe get a cheap HongKong case if they don't have any by the time I get mine.
