iPod I need someone to decide for me

Ok...I've looked at this over and over and over again...I cannot decide

should I get the ipod classic 160 gb or the ipod touch 64 gb?

considerations:
I have tons of music...but not over 40 gb
Money is a slight problem (but not a huge one)

err, I really have no idea what to do..I've researched this extensively and I still can't decide (I always have this problem)
So someone just tell me what to do..please
I have a 16 gb 5th gen nano...I want something more

Your best bet is to just wait for the new iPod Touch coming out (supposedly) early fall this year. Not too long of a wait and you may seem some kind of memory upgrade as well.

I was considering this same thing a week or so ago. I went with the classic. I wanted capacity. After loading most of my music, and a handful of movies, I have about 101GB free. Technically, I could have fit everything I have on the Touch 64GB, but I'd be almost out of room. And I still have quite a few gigs of music to add, and possibly some more movies (simply because I CAN with the Classic).

You always have to ask yourself, what do you want this iPod for? If it's to store your music, and play your music, then the Classic is hard to beat with that capacity (and I personally love the clickwheel interface, great for working with one hand while I'm walking the dog or carrying a computer bag in my other hand or whatever else). I also felt that if I got the Touch, I'd be too tempted to be playing around with it all the time, going on YouTube and junk instead of listening to music, the original reason I wanted an iPod in the first place.

I might go ahead and get a lower capacity touch in the Fall, for use as a PDA that happens to have some MP3s on it, but for my main music player, the Classic just fits the bill for me.

Do you really need ALL of that media? Music I understand, but movies not so much. I never have more than a movie or two because I don't sit around with nothing else to do for that long. For an all around media device, the iPod touch wins hands down. It does more than just music. You can surf the web, check email, play games, etc. You get access to the App Store with over 225K apps. Worth it for storing a few less movies to me.

FAIL. iPod becomes the most popular music player because of the clickwheel allows accessing of music quickly and easily.

But of course, a few people cannot figure out anything besides record players.

iPhone / iPod touch is made with accessibility controls (AKA blind people can still use them). "Animations" "slow things down"? Sounds like you are talking of other platforms.

The downside is how blind some iHaters are, while even the blind can use Apple devices.

I'm struggling as well...although with me throw in the nano to make it an even bigger decision. I have an old school nano (the ones made way before video was on them) and an iPhone so I am in need of a new iPod. I keep going back and forth between the 3 options (getting the back to school deal and looking at everything but the shuffle). It is literally making me a crazy woman...decisions decisions! I feel like the nano screen is so small that watching a movie on it would be miserable. But the other features (and colors) are attractive. The classic ipod's larger screen and big capacity are also attractive. Although I thought I read somewhere about it not being as "resistant" (not that I'm hard on them...but things do happen and things accidentally get dropped!) and the click wheel being "cheap" (these are things other people have said on here). Then there is the touch. I have conflicting thoughts on it. First, I love my iPhone so much...so I wonder would it be nice to have the ability to check email, get on web, use apps on my iPod therefore not running down my iphone's battery so quickly each day...and also have the plus of the nice big screen for videos...or would I regret getting it because of the size both physically and in terms of memory (I'm not going to pay an extra $100...most I'll pay extra is $50 for the classic...so therefore it will be the 8 gb for me if I got the touch).

Please please someone advise me. I'm begging. Maybe some of you out there own all the different iPods and an iPhone and can tell me which of the iPods you use the most considering you also have the iPhone. Maybe some of y'all can just tell me what you have and what you love period. since I don't have an Iphone, I decided to go with the ipod touch because it offers a lot more...apps, web, e-mail etc. etc., it's worth the extra money...
Plus..think about it...all the music I will ever need only takes up 50 gb at most...I don't need a huge classic to store all of that...plus it's all on my computer etc.
But: you have an iphone already...which has all of the stuff that is inticing me to spend the extra money...
I hate people saying this to me (because I'm not going to..I'm impatient) but you should really wait until september...then you can get an upgrade...they'll probably put cameras on the ipod touches etc. , upgrade memory storage

watching movies on touches are the best way to go as well...
and after tinkering with a couple of friend's classics...and ipod touches there is no comparison..

There are a couple problems with waiting until September. First, I really need the computer this summer. Also, it is my understanding that the new iPods all come out in September AFTER the back to school special is over. If it weren't for that though...it would be totally worth the wait!!

Here's a couple questions (probably a dumb one but I'm a girl with limited tech knowledge and they would help me with my decision):
1. How much do adding apps on the touch subtract from the space for music/movies? Again, like I said, bear with my ignorance on this subject!
2. How possible/easy/expensive (programs to do this) is it to rip a movie from a DVD you own and put it on your iPod? Because if it requires a lot of expensive software and is difficult, I won't be adding movies (I don't want to buy them on iTunes).

Again, thank you for your input. It is a really difficult decision (especially for an indecisive person) and I don't want to regret my choice!

And btw, I'm considering that I would spend an extra $100 to get the next step up touch from the 8 gb...but couldn't do the extra $200 to get the max memory model. But that's ok. I think since I have the iPhone I'd be good to go.

It is difficult...I don't know how to answer your first question, I just got my ipod touch in the mail (yay) and I haven't yet opened it (I know..I'm weird, I stare at it for a while first). I hope other people answer because I really have no idea what I'm talking about here. It's probably a good thing you can't wait...otherwise you'd be dying in anticipation for a few months. (at least I would be, that's why I got one now)

BUT I can answer your second question (I'm excited about this) :

it sounds too good to be true...but it isn't..I've already done it five times
you just insert a disc, have the program read it, then it ..for lack of a better term..burns it onto your computer...there's also an option where you can easily convert it and put it on your ipod (I haven't done that yet, but many people have, I'm sure someone can tell you about this)...I already have..lets see: the motorcycle diaries, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, hairspray, and some other stuff...I can play it whenever I want..on any media device I want...It's amazing.
It's super fast, easy, and free. I love it.

If you're planning to watch movies..I would definitely go with the 32 gb ipod touch if I were you. <3
