I've recently replaced my G4 Mac Mini with a MacBook Pro as my primary machine. Previously I've used my Mini alternately as a home theater pc and as my primary computer. Going forward I'm going to be using it primarilly for three purposes.

I've got an external 1TB hard drive connected and I'm using that drive for Time Machine backups for both computers. I also use the drive to store video to playback on my Xbox 360, and I will keep a copy of my iTunes library on the mini to play independantly of the MBP.

My question is what can I do to improve the performance of my Mac mini? Are there any tricks to get faster transfer speeds to and from the mini? I recently updated the OS to 10.5, but I plan to make a backup of the mini's internal drive and wipe it clean and do a fresh install. Do you think that will yield any improvements?
