I tried to reset (a forgotten password after the latest update (yesterday)) and I can't. I can't plug in my USB cable from not its a nylon lightening USB cable. I don't understand why it wouldn't work since it is MIFI certified and made for iPod, iPhone, and iPad. What gives?

What exactly are you trying to do? Restart your phone? Reset all settings and wipe it? Something else?

I'm trying to reenable my phone. Right now I have 34 minutes left. I just updated software last night and had no problems. I can't log in now. :(. I no longer have the original charging cable, but have an APPLE certified cable and the original charging block though. (Bought from apple.com.)

So are you telling me that if I can find someone who has an iPhone with the original cable and once I get the passcode figured out, I should be OK?

Your cable could be fine, it's just that since you do not know the passcode, and the USB blocking function comes with iOS 12 on by default, the phone cannot be recognized by any computer until the device is unlocked.

If you can't figure out the passcode, you might have to put the phone into restore mode and reinstall.

OK. I had to return the cord I borrowed. Then I tried to reset my phone through iTunes with the cord I have. I did this after I returned the cord I borrowed. Should I try to get another iPhone cord that was included in all new iPhones. I honestly thought it would work. Though, there is a weird thing, my iPhone charges with the new braided nylon cord. (I just checked it.)

I went to my cousin's house and they said take it to Apple. I had a chat with apple tech support online and they said to make an appointment with :apple:. In short, my phone can't be logged into, but it charges.

Have you tried following the steps in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306#recovery? This should allow you to completely erase the phone and set it up again. You will need your iCloud credentials afterwards as it will be activation locked to your account.

I'm going to use this link I happened to find last night....
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306#recovery

However, I don't have the charging cable that came with my phone. I stupidly gave it to someone else a while back. :( What I am thinking if I had the original cable that came with my phone I could fix this easier.

Original cable or not should not affect the restore process. As long as it works for data (which you are suggesting it did previously) then you should be fine. You do need to follow the steps carefully in the instructions though and because of the "USB Accessories" feature it probably won't be recognised in step 1 when you first connect it but proceed any way with the force restart and it should work.

From what I understand from your reply and by the way thank you for replying, the nice nylon braided cord I have should be fine and the link I provided will be helpful?

The lead you have should be fine I think. As long as it works for data (which as you borrowed it from a friend I assume it does) it should work.

I just got a new cord (from a friend) the one that comes with an iPhone. I think I am stuck. I do get the sound when its plugged in, btw, it's fully charged. I don't know where to go now. What else effects the ability to turn on. I haven't tried to go to iTunes with it yet. I am not sure if I should try that when I am still in BETA mode.

What exactly is the issue? Is the phone not on and you can't turn it on? Is the phone locked with a passcode and you can't unlock it because you don't remember the passcode? Is it something else?

It currently says "iPhone is disabled connect to iTunes". I still plan on replying back tonight when it's just me.

And what exactly happens when you connect it to iTunes?

I don't remember exactly since I did it yesterday, but I will make sure I provide a screenshot when I try to do what I said I was going to do tonight. Better yet, I'll write down everything my screen says.

What was really strange, my dad also has the same phone I do and he updated just fine so I don't know if I accidentally hit the wrong number when I tried to enter my phone and didn't realize it. Then again, how did it happen all the times we are allowed to try to gain access to our phone?

Per original post, and the message, the phone is erased due to entering too many wrong passcodes, so, needs to go through a restore.

Follow the instructions in the links provided to put the phone into restore mode and reinstall OS.

At this point, nothing else that can be done.

Can someone provide me a link of what will be on my MBP screen, please? I think I have an idea, but I am not sure if I do this right now when there are too many distractions. What I am thinking is that I will go into iTunes and hopefully my phone will be listed. (With the new charging/syncing cable.)

I think things will be OK since I get the "doing" when its charging. (From my original charging cube.) More later.... So far so good. :)

I tried to connect to iTunes. I got "iPhone is disabled cannot connect to iTunes". So if someone tells me i need to do something specific please either include a website or instructions to follow.

I'm guessing I have to go into recovery mode, correct?

Thank you.
