I ordered an MBP on 11th Jan and will not get it until early to mid April

Another week and another moan from me. No Apple reseller in the UK has taken receipt of any MacBook Pros and the latest news from Apple is that they will start shipping at the beginning of next week with delivery to the distributors at the beginning of the week after.

Then the distributors will have to ship them out across the UK, so we are looking at about the 22-24th before any stores take delivery.

Now to add to that, Apple will not be shipping any CTO orders to distributors until about 2-3 weeks after the standard configs. So we are looking at a delivery to the actual stores of around 5-14th April.

I know I have laboured this point many many times in these forums, but I am really, extremely, incredibly ANGRY. In case you haven't seen any of my previous rants, I ordered mine on 11th January through a reseller because Apple would no longer ship to where I live.

Mine is of course CTO, because a 100GB 5400 drive in the standard model is just not good enough. So I will be looking at 12-13 weeks between ordering and delivery, or over a quarter of a year.

I am expecting a barrage of Apple sympathisers to tell me that this is perfectly reasonable and that Apple originally claimed that they would be shipping the first intel macs in June of this year and that I am therefore lucky to have this now.

Of course we knew this would never happen as June was just not a good time for them to release a laptop. It would have been way too early to announce a Merom laptop but too late to announce a Core Duo (Yonah) laptop with the Merom so close to delivery.

Just my rant at Apple screwing over the loyal customer base.

That truly does suck. I can remember that waiting even 14 days for my powerbook last year was pretty terrible.
That kind of time span in the computer world is pretty ridiculous. In most cases a computer can be close to obsolete in that kind of time. The chance of this happening is especially large with the high pace at which Intel is introducing its new processors.
I hope for you it works out ok!

That does stink. I hope they get that Channel Islands store started soon enough that you won't have to deal with this the next time around!

I'm certainly not goint to jump down your back. I would be ripping mad. It's one thing to have delays and what not, but a quarter of a year is an awful long time to wait. I'd be hard pressed not to call Apple and demand some kind of "extra" for this.

It definitely sucks but I'm curious as to why your order wasn't simply rescheduled like those who ordered direct?

I hadn't realised that the BTO orders had two different queues - one for direct and one for resellers? Don't they follow the same automatic upgrade path that saves their place in the queue?

Unfortunately not. My biggest gripe, above my own issue, is that Apple delaying these orders effectively means that the resellers have been locked out of the initial rush to buy the MBPs.

Supposedly Apple cancelled all orders when they announced the upgrades. The apple stores implemented a policy of automatically replacing the orders. The resellers on the other hand were forced to manually re-order everything. This obviously took time and pushed all their orders to the back of the queue. Therefore even if you ordered from the online Apple site on 17th February you would have been in-front of someone that ordered from a reseller on 11th January. Now that sucks

Waiting a few weeks seems justified, but waiting 13 weeks is totally uncalled for.

CompUSA has MacBook Pro's in stock for about a week here in Fort Myers, FL. Not sure if they are located up in your neck of the woods, but if so, you could walk out with one today...

I live on a tax free island, which is what appears to cause Apple problems and am therefore saving over 200 pounds or 340 dollars. That's too much to lose by getting it shipped from the states
