I received a replacement machine after returning my MBP SR for a yellow display a week ago.
The new machine lists the correct part number for the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 in "about this mac," (ST9160823AS). But the label on the box does not state 7200RPM, nor does the sticker under the battery. The new label reads: "MBP 15/2.4GHZ/2x1G/160/SD" The sticker inside the machine is the same.
I recall that my first machine had a sticker that mentioned the RPM of the drive, and I have seen photos of these stickers as well.
I am sure that Apple is not trying to stiff me out of a drive, but could there have been a mistake? The Genius bar and product specialists keep pointing to "about this mac" as the last authority on the specs. of the machine, but that field is probably not propegated at the time of the instalation of the drive, so I don't consider it a definative answer.
Do I need to pop the top off to find the answer or is there another way.=?
Thanks, and sorry if this sounds conspiratorial - if apple would label consistently it would never have entered my mind.
