I Phone 3 Gs Charger Burnt Me

Just bought a brand new black i phone 32gs from an orange store.

I Had my Iphone plugged in at the socket and have had it less than 3 days.

I was charging it next to me on sofa whilst i was browsing the net for apps trying to get the hang of the (amazing new Iphone)

Then i see smoke start coming out of the charger not the plug part but at the phone end.

Obviously i take my phone off of charge and the bottom of my phone is boiling hot and i burnt my finger.

The end of the charger is burnt and all melted.

Am taking a trip back to orange in the morning so word of warning be careful.

I typed into google i phone burnt me and it seems im not the only one!!!!

you should be good covered by warranty on that issue. just take it back and get a new one in the store.

Please post photos of the melted charger. It's not that I don't believe you, I just want to see how badly it happened. For a 3 day Old phone, bring everything back. Get a new box with a new Charger, iPhone and cable. The cable most likely shorted out, but getting a new iPhone and charger will make sure.

Agreed, I would also ask that it all be replaced, just to make sure.

110v wouldn't do this? You're crazy. European voltage has nothing to do with it.
I would also like to see pictures to see the extent of the damage. I've had power supplies overload and 'pop' but never melt to burning point. They usually trip out before they get to a dangerous point, still hot to the touch though.

Agreed: pictures or it never happened. In any case, sorry to hear of OP's misfortune (particular since I just ordered a new 3GS from Orange). By the way - I am no electrician, but of there was some sort of short circuit or problem with the charger, shouldn't a fuse or circuit breaker have cut the flow of current?
