I can't control the ringer volume from my iPhone X buttons. Attention aware is off. Change with buttons is on in Sounds & Haptics. If I try to adjust the volume while the phone is ringing it goes straight to silent. Anyone know if this is correct ? I can change the ringer volume with the slider in Sounds & Haptics.

That sounds normal, pressing the buttons while it's ringing does silence the ringer. The buttons will however adjust the ringer volume while you're on the home screen (as long as change with buttons is set to on, as yours does appear to be)
