Brian Tong delivered the goods: the direct comparison I was looking for.

..I'm a silver person anyways, classic, tried and true, and never regret it. The space grey the two times I tried it got tired of it sooner than later.

The midnight looks cool as heck honestly but the easy smudging would drive me nuts, and it looks a smidge like a non-Mac to me.

The space black however, even if it great reduces fingerprints, to my eyes really looks like a Space Grey 1.5

Starlight MBA M2 > Midnight MBA M2 IMO. The fingerprints on the Midnight would drive me nuts. Looks like Apple have done a good job with the Space Black coating if you check out Dave2D's latest video. Won't pass the nose test though...

I do too. Space Black is just slightly darker grey than Space Grey lol, not even remotely close to black. If they made it actually all black and matched the keyboard, that would look awesome.

If they named it properly people would be less shaken up. Same with when they show stock photos of cases and the color in real life is way off.

How have they not learned their 'lessons'? How many unnecessary returns follow from something like this (for people who buy Macs before seeing them)

So the midnight seems a touch darker and a lot more blue.

What I want is something a touch darker than midnight with half as much blue. Then it would probably match my car perfectly, lol.
