I was on Windows and then my MacBook went to sleep. There was no warning, and I just figured it was low batteries. So once I got home I plugged it in, and the screen started flickering. It wouldn't stop, so I stared at the blinking screen to save my work, then went to restart. Once restarted, There was no more crazy flickering but all my icons are in their negative colors, and distorted. Any idea of how to fix this and what had happened?

Boot back into OS X and never boot Windows again. I think that should do it ;)

Ahh... Only if we lived in a single OS world, but sadly we don't.

I don't see anything else that's wrong besides the icons. I checked my work that I was doing, and that seemed fine. The icons are just really ugly.

Here's something you could try...

Control-Alt-Delete - > Task Manager -> Processes.

Select Explorer.exe Click "End Process"

File -> Run

Enter "Explorer.exe" Click "OK"

Basically kill and restart Explorer. This'll recreate your entire desktop, taskbar, etc...

This kind of thing is not uncommon in Windows. :(

Thanks BalamW I'll give it a try.. whenever I see your name I read it as BlamW, just thought I'd share that.

Control-Alt-Delete doesn't seem to be working. I know I tried pressing that combo before and it didn't work. I have a MacBook, is there some other way to get Task Manager up?

Nevermind, I found it. It would be nice if Windows named the apps without abbreviations.

UPDATE:
Nope it didn't work. Still retarded icons.

Press Control-Shift-Escape. Technically, that's the "correct" way to bring up task manager... control-alt-delete is how you bring up "Windows Security" (kinda funny how they're both in the same sentence, isn't it?) which has a button for Task Manager.

Don't ask how I knew that. ;)

Your driver dropped out for your video or the video config got messed up. Open Control Panel and go to Displays (or right click and choose properties on the desktop). Change your resolution and color settings to 24-bit or 32-bit and 1200x800 or something of the like. If that doesn't work try reinstalling the video driver.

That did the trick, thanks greatly :D
