I love the idea of being able to delete apps from the home page, but I just think it would be cleaner to be able to do that without having an apps list, and I think there are lots of reasons why people might want to have apps on their phone but hidden, finally apple allow you to do it with one feature, then immediately render that less useful with its next feature.

I really wish you could turn off and on apps list

They aren’t allowing you to ‘hide’ them per se though. That’s not its purpose. It’s a clean up feature. I get what you mean, and hiding completely would be a cool feature, but that’s not the intent here - so it’s a little disingenuous to phrase it the way you have in regards to implementing a feature whilst rendering it useless at the same time.
I love the Apps list. I have two pages of widgets and just use the app list.
I may end up doing this; after all widgets launch the app they're from when tapped so they're kind of like an app icon but better.
