Where it's cold
And it all worked out in the end. I was able to get to the Genius Bar for an
appointment at 4:20 this afternoon and I was treated awesome. I was upfront
about what happened (I dropped it from about 2 feet) and they took it to the back, put a new screen on it and thanked me for my honesty. Said it
was the reason that they were going to replace my screen free of charge.
I ended up buying a better case on their recommendation for $30 but even with that I saved $170.

...cool story, bro? Apparently this is what I am supposed to be saying to your post. Honestly though, it is nice of them to do that. I've gotten my screen replaced for technical errors like dead pixels and a lot of dust under the screen but they are really courteous about replacing screens since they implemented that new service over the summer.

Something similar happened to me.

I slipped while going down some stairs and slid down 8 steps. The iphone was in my back pocket, and when I checked it, the screen was just white with some black vertical lines on the right side. So booked an appointment at the genius bar, and just told them what happened. They just gave me a new iphone, nothing to pay.

Think honesty is the best policy :)

Yeah, for all the negative posts about people being unhappy with their iPhones I figured some would like to hear a positive story. I had almost the exact same thing happen with my 2G too. I was seriously surprised they treated me that good again.
