i should be worry about the new MacBook?

hi all,

i'm a mac user since 8 years, and i was so happy with powermac series.. now, i decided to buy a new macbook core 2 duo, black 2,00 GHz and 2 GB ram, and after some readings, i become so scare just of thinking in "MacBook" as a word! the battery issue was the most terrible thing..

so, if i would going and buy this machine, does Apple testing it before? i might ship it from US to middle east - Qatar.. if any problems occurred, who's going to repair and replace?! does the warranty cover?

i've been always a blind man when i buy apple stuff (top trusted level), but know, i should worry and have a night mares about them?

please my dear readers.. give me an answers for my questions, or guide me to some way to talk with Apple directly..

For various reasons I wouldn't buy a macbook.

In the current state it is in, I'm always going to purchase a MBP instead, if I want a laptop. Price be damned.

Hussein, buy with confidence. The MB is great (and I don't even have the Core 2 Duo version). Battery life is fantastic (much better than my old PBG4). Only reason to buy an MBP is a) bigger screen (too big in a portable, IMHO), b) graphics card if you want to do 3-D gaming (yawn) and c) you love aluminium and hate plastic.

and thanx for such great advice!! i wish if they release a silver (alu) macbook with superb specs and 13" or 12".. but i have no choice with small screens!!

It is nothing to do with the problems other people have with laptops and other electronic equipment. Stuff fails or is defective, I understand those issues, it will happen with anything.

Its just I think the MacBook is a rather poor machine. I'm being picky to be honest, it has nothing to do with performance either.

It has to do with the weight of the machine, the glossy screen, the size of the screen and the Graphics Card.

For a consumer screen, it is too small, it should be at least a 15". The gloss is well gloss, no good for print based work because the colours depiction are false. The weight as well is an issue, it is a heavy machine considering it is only an inch .3 wider. I have had a chance to touch one of these machines next to my 12" PB.

If it is going to weigh that much then the machine should be bigger.

Some people don't like the "glossy" screen, but I find it to be sharp, crisp and beautiful - I'd never go back to a "matte" screen after having my "glossy" MBP!

The weight could be trimmed, but not without making the MB more flimsy - its current build is quite durable, much more so than the MBP.

And its size is pretty compact - you can't compare it to the old 12" PowerBook, which had a smaller, standard screen. While some would even like to go smaller than the 12", e.g. 10" ultralight, I think that the current 13.3" widescreen is a nice balance (and am considering getting one for travel, to supplement my 15" MBP!) If you want a 15", you're going to have to buy a MacBook Pro.

I've gotta agree with being disappointed with the lack of a graphics card, but for the very reasonable price of the MacBook, I see the competition also using integrated graphics, to keep the price down!

All-in-all, the MacBook is an excellent notebook, with incredible value, given the very reasonable price, considering all that you're getting! Add a graphics chip and 2" larger screen, costs you $1000 more - a MacBook Pro!

i would like to have a macbook, with 13" in a brushed steel look, similar to: "Designed by F. A. Porsche", the Glossy screen is obviously better for graphics and movies, the black point balance is great there..

i'm going to order it today.. thanx all.
