A few minutes ago I spilled a small amount of chocolate milk onto the bottom right corner of the keyboard of my M1 MacBook air, powered it off immediately and flipped it upside-down. Will it be ok?
Maybe or maybe not. It depends on how much got in. I don't think milk is as corrosive like soda but it's probably not good. If it survives the initial drying period and turns on then you're probably okay.A few minutes ago I spilled a small amount of chocolate milk onto the bottom right corner of the keyboard of my M1 MacBook air, powered it off immediately and flipped it upside-down. It is highly likely your keyboard will seize up with the sugar and milk. Best to send/bring it in to Apple asap. I hope you have Apple Care.A few minutes ago I spilled a small amount of chocolate milk onto the bottom right corner of the keyboard of my M1 MacBook air, powered it off immediately and flipped it upside-down. Well it’s the next day now and it seems to still be working. Fingers crossed!Maybe or maybe not. It depends on how much got in. I don't think milk is as corrosive like soda but it's probably not good. If it survives the initial drying period and turns on then you're probably okay.
If you have AppleCare on it they will fix it but I'm not sure how much the service fee is but cheaper than a new one.
True and False at the same time. Pure distilled water can be safe, but pure distilled water becomes contaminated as soon as it touches the computer and its internals. The reason you want to clean it is to remove stuff and thus your distilled water will be pure no more and start doing all kinds of funky stuff to your electronics! Especially as there is a battery in there waiting to unleash the magic smoke! There's a theory that distilled water can be used to wash electronics. Since it's pure water, it has nothing in it to corrode or conduct electricity.
I've never had to think about trying it, so I don't know if I'm brave enough.
Chocolate milk > laptopHope it continues to work for you, honest.
But...on the other hand, I always without exception make sure I keep liquids and computers costing a grand or more so far apart from each other that spill damage just can't ever happen, because I can't afford the repair bill.
Obviously I've no idea if you're a pauper or billionaire, but if you can't afford to take the risk, don't create the risk.
The enter key is I but gummed up but other than that it's fine. Probably an easy fix. Why, did you do the same?Is the MacBook ok now, or are there any issues?
For me it would be money in my bank account > repair bill caused by chocolate milk.Chocolate milk > laptop
No, I had coffee SPILLED on my MacBook and it is fine now!The enter key is I but gummed up but other than that it's fine. Probably an easy fix. Why, did you do the same?
