Well, I tried. Wrote a post recently on the following thread:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/909354/

Today, I called AppleCare and went through the issue with them. The guy had me do a complete restore on iTunes, which wipes out content on the iPad and resets to factory defaults. He wanted to make sure the inoperable sleep/wake button wasn't a software problem.

The good news? That restore got the sleep/wake button working again. The bad news? When trying to sync the iPad and reload the apps and content, all kinds of error messages ensued, and then the sleep/wake button died again! This all happened after the tech call with Apple, so I called them back to report the problems. Oddly, the sleep/wake button woke up and started working again as I was talking to tech support, but then even more sync error messages appeared.

So, the tech guy said my problem is probably hardware-related, not software, and authorized me to take the iPad back to the Apple store where I purchased it to swap it out. Luckily, that store had a 64 gig Wifi model in stock, and I went there an hour later to do the swap-out. Had to wait in the store for a half hour to complete the swap as the agent there had to do some stuff (paper work, hooking up the new iPad to his Mac for some reason, etc.).

But now I have a new iPad to replace the Lemon. Did the sync and everything ran smoothly, so I'm fine. The Apple Care people told me this was the first time they heard of the problems that I was having. Amazing.

Why is this important enough to post?

Apple lets you swap defective products under warranty for a new product now? Wow, what will they think of next?

Over a million iPads sold and you have the only problem of that nature. It's like winning the reverse lottery. I'm glad they resolved it.

This story is no different than hundreds of others - people sharing their experiences with the iPad and with Apple. Yet for some reason, the self annointed forum police are so bothered by it, they feel the need to post "witty" comments in reply. Seriously - if you find these topics boring, skip them. Just because you don't find the topic interesting, doesn't mean someone else think like you. Why people seemingly get offended by these is really strange..

It's like Facebook status updates.

Sometimes you comment favorably.

Sometimes you comment unfavorably.

Sometimes you read and move on.

Every OP knows what they're in for and can take it.

It's the people who police the unfavorable replies that need to breathe. Unless you're a mod, who cares?

I wouldn't keep lemon iPad either. Strawberry on the other hand would be my choice for iPad flavor

I think quite a bit of this has to do with initial uncertainty over what is causing issues. I swapped mine with wifi issues, and the Genius didn't even hook it up to the computer (like they've always done with iPhone warranty swaps). It was just an "okay, we'll swap it out." There's probably not much structure for diagnosing problems just yet.

Glad it worked out.

I went to work today. I wore gray and also had a bacon egg sammich for lunch. I also took a massive dump. It smelled.
