I talkek to Apple Tech Support about GarageBand today about system requirements. They haven't had time to test the product themselves since they don't actually have the product in hand. However, the man told me that on this sheet of paper of the current tech support troubleshooting that GarageBand may require a G3 or more. So it may work on a G3 if it is more that 600 MHZ. Maybe. Here's hoping that it will work on my iBook G3 700 MHZ

I second that . I was kind of dissapointed when I read that the instruments wont work on a computer I bought a little over a year ago brand new and it was the top of class at the time. Even Microsoft isnt that bad...

I think that Apple is doing this thing with requirements for new Apps because they want to force their faithful to purchase new hardware.

Yep , and thats the part that stinks. Garage band by itslef in no different than any of the other free multi track recorders (i.e. Audacity ) Without the software instruments its just another "also ran".. Bleh

I guess the software instruments require Altivec.
