After upgrading my Google Fiber to 2gig and my network to 2.5G, for sh*ts and giggles decided to test the max network speed on my 2018 iPad Pro 11" and saw a max speed of 1264 Mbps.

Did it simply because I was curious - the Google installer was hitting a network max of ~1600 Mbps on his Samsung laptop during testing, and he complained that he wished Fiber issued MbPs to techs because they can actually do 2Gbps. So it made me wonder what my iPad could do - and now you know.
  • Google Fiber 2gig service
  • Used this 2.5G USB to ethernet adapter. Yes, I get the full 2.5G d/1G u on my 16" MbP using this same adapter.
  • Used Speedtest.net
  • iOS 14.5 dev beta

So why the cap? Specific USB implementation limitations?

Not a big deal, just wondering.

Perhaps the app isn't very CPU efficient. Maxing out a single thread. I know the web interface for speedtest can be CPU limited on fast connections.

Interesting, I can crack 800 mbps on my internal network over wifi, but never tried ethernet. The 800 seems slow, but I'm not sure, since its an actual measurement vs. the "link rate" I see on other devices being 1200 or more.

Ive never been able to get 1GB speeds on my iPad Pro. Ive tried several adapters (Belkin,Anker, etc)

Forgot to mention that I am on iOS 14.5 dev beta on the iPad. Not sure if that makes any difference at all.
