I think i ****ed up my mac pro

help, idk how this happend, i was re plugging in my usb 3 card, powered it on, i hesr this click. No light. I also re installed my ssd, also i wasnt getting a boot screen, mojave was acting weird, i plugged in my gt120. Took it out, with it off of course. Re plugged in my rx580. Idk what happend.

Go to your Macrumors profile page and make a " .sig" = describe your entire Mac Pro set up.

Look at my .sig below.

This will give us the information to help solve your problem and reduce the number of questions that we have to ask you to get this information :rolleyes: we're all willing to answer and proffer help, help us by telling us via your .sig to speed up finding the solution.

You can also post reasonably sized photos eg : your motherboard diagnosis LEDS.

In the meantime, try a " PRAM reset" Google "Mac Pro PRAM reset" after you learn how to do this PRAM reset - shut down and then restart but hold all the required keys until you hear the "Happy mac " chime FOUR TIMES.
 
what type of card is it? innatek with power cable?
does it start when you remove the card?
if you power it on, do the diag leds light up? when yes, which ones?
can you press the diag button beneath the leds?

When i power it on, the front light doesnt come on at all, all i get is a click, dont see any lights from the board. I get a click and i hear sounds but the fans dont spun. Basicly nothing really happens

Sounds like you have a faulty PSU. But since you said that's right after you install a PCIe cards. I will suggest you remove ALL PCIe cards (including GPU), and try to boot the cMP without any graphic card and monitor connected.

At least this can tell us if the PCIe cards causing the issue or not.

i did that. same issue

so its a the shop, im guessing the whole logic board will have to be replaced, meaning that my logic board was flashed, luckily i still have my old CPU, so ill have to reflash it once i get it back

The CPU tray is wired to the pcie slots via the northbridge. I had a supermicro pcie plx adapter in slot 2 fry out the northbridge chipset on the cpu tray and the fan controller on a gtx 680 in slot 1. The logic board survived.

If the logic board or the cpu tray needs to be replaced, they can be found on ebay for a reasonable price.

Without meaning to be offensive, one ABSOLUTELY NEVER removes PCIe cards ( anything for that matter . .) while the Mac Pro is turned ON.

The only things I ever unplug or plug with the any computer on are usb/firewire devices, video cables, LAN cables,speaker and headphones. Unless it says it's how swappable I never insert or remove anything. When I bought my NAS I made sure the drives were hot swappable. Who knows what is fried. Keep us updated.
 
Not sure if it helps, but I recently had exactly the same issue with exactly the same symptoms. Was worried it might be the logic board, but took my MacPro to a friends house to swap PSUs and check (he has the same MP). Installed his PSU and issue went away. With my PSU he had the same problem.

Ordered replacement PSU on AliExpress for $130.
