The market for the iPad is not for us tech geeks but rather for people who aren't as good with Technology or people who don't have a smart phone or a mac. My parents would fit perfectly with the iPad. They even called me up and asked me about it after they saw the local news talk about it. Sure I might buy one, but I know my parents will and once they buy the iPad, they will one day buy a Mac to compliment it. This is a way to get common people to one day buy a Mac.

Who said this doesn't appeal to "tech geeks"?

I have an iPhone 3G and the macbook pro...and i'm still getting an iMaxi.

I worded that wrong. I mean, while it doesn't have everything we want, it has everything that my parents want and that is what Apple was aiming for.

The "tech geeks" imo represent a very small percentage of the overall Apple user base. Since the iPhone and the explosion of Apple retail stores this segment of "geeks" has shrunk many times over. I'd be surprised if those people on the tech forums and blogs even reach 5%? (guessing) of Apple's iPod, iPhone, MB and iMac user base.

I think the number for iPods sold was 250,000,000? That's a HUGE customer base. Even IF that only represents 25% of that number is "new" or "individual" customers. That's a massive amount of people who I guarantee don't spend their days and nights reading forums about Apple products. They simply enjoy using them for their daily lives.

As you imply about your parents, it will make computers seem easy and less intimidating for those that don't understand them. It does the things they want to do on a computer and makes it easy as touching the screen.
