with a inanimate box of bolts. :D

After years and years of using all flavors of Windows, I made a rash decision recently and finally got my MacBook Pro in the mail today. So far I can't complain. Real smooth looking, quiet, and most importantly it's fast! (which coincidently are all traits that I admire in women...:D) So, tell me O great Mac users, what kind of stuff should I be doing with this machine. Cool tools I should be installing?

Here are a few pics of my new love;

i don't have wonderful advice or suggestions of things to install...just play around and get acquainted with your new love.

oh, and don't forget to play with photobooth. it's such a silly little novelty, but it's the first thing i did and it always makes me laugh. ;)

congrats!

Congrads on the Mac. Welcome to the other side.
Don't bog it down with any software that you don't absolutly need right now. Spend some time, get to know her. :D And do not be afraid to ask anyone on this forum anything. There aren't any stupid questions.

It's people like you that give me hope for the human race. :D

Are you a NTer as well? Anyways welcome to these forums and to the Mac world. Airtunes and the Airport Express is one of my favorite things to use.

You're two days too late, Valentine's day was the 14th ;-)

But yes, MBPs are great machines. May your MBP be blessed with no problems!

it's never a bad time to buy your mb a dozen roses! -- even AFTER valentine's day! your mb will look stunning with a vase of roses beside her on your desk.

Check out the numerous threads on "applications to get" -- top of those lists is always Adium, Quicksilver (will CHANGE YOUR LIFE, I kid you not), Synergy, and various other hacks (I like MenuCalendarClock, myself)

Synergy? That's only if you use two computers...

Oh yeah, and Cyberduck for ftp transfer.

Synergy? (http://www.synergy.wincent.org) Synergy is the awesome iTunes controller/bezel-based track display thing that makes all my windows friends say "wow, that's beautiful" :) Fine on one computer...

I think Transmit's way cooler than Cyberduck, though I guess it isn't free (CD is, right?)

OH! and Growl! (growl.info) But only if you know/understand why it's really cool. If you're a more typical user it won't seem too interesting or useful.

It's a 17. The power button is't in the centre of the speaker grill, and the latch wholes are lined up perfectly with the end of the trackpad. :D

The MBP is a beautiful machine. It's the first Mac I've owned and after eight and a half months, I'm still amazed with it's design. It's also the first nice computer I've owned that was not a cheap piece of junk. I clean it every week and do a good job with regular maintenance. The only problem I've had was a loose hinge that fixed itself.

I'm planning on selling my old Dell Desktop since my MPB meets all my needs.
