PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP tME?

I'm new to these forums but hopefully someone can help me.

I had 3000 songs on my ipod classic up until 2 hours ago. However yesterday evening I loaded a further 3000 into my library, with view to jumping them into my ipod this morning. However, it didnt copy across all the excess songs. I thought the best way would be to delete all the songs from my ipod, then jump across the whole 6000 strong library onto my ipod. However, most if not all the songs have a grey exclamation mark next to them and will not copy across. When I click on one of those songs to play it asks to to see if it can be located, but then directs me to a folder on my ipod "F01" (there are about 46 "F" folders", but are all empty.

Does this mean that I have lost all my songs for ever, or are they lurking somewhere on my computer or my itunes e.t.c?

Please can someone help me??

They should be in the music folder on your computer. Did you delete them once you synced them to your iPod? If you did, you will need a tool to pull them off your iPod and get them back on to your machine.
