I am curious what option you would choose ?

Go to an Apple Store?

Providing your on the current iOS version and you look in Battery settings you can see just how healthy your battery actually is.

Then I guess you just need to go to a local phone repair shop. Not really sure how this is a question -- kind of obvious. once your phone is more than say 18 months old, there's no warranty or anything else left, so there shouldn't be an issue with third party services.

How are local phone repair shop batteries compared to a OEM Apple one? Any disadvantage ?

Not really. They should be fairly low cost and even if you have to replace them in 18 months the cost would still not be much of an issue. It's like a car, as it gets older you might need to replace parts more often.

You can do a mail-in repair to Apple.

The non-OEM batteries don't have the same capacity or internal resistance compared to the original. And you won't be able to read the battery capacity in iOS 11.3 because non-OEM batteries are not supported.

Thanks for letting me know that! I think I may do mail-in repair but hate being without a phone for 9 days. :(
