OK, i'm new to jailbreaking. Infact I went with the easiest jailbreak available, BlackRa1n. That went smooth and easy, the problem i'm having is when I installed SwirlyMMS from Cydia, cause I have the old iPhone 2G.

Now my phone has been pretty much stuck with the apple logo, since it needed to reboot the phone anyways. I did hold in Home and Sleep to reboot thinking that may do something, and I also ran BlackRa1n again. That brought the Geohot image up and i thought it would fix it, but it's still at the apple image going on and off every little bit. Been doing this for 20 mins I think.

What can I do? Anyone have any ideas on saving my iphone?

connect the sync cable to the iphone but not the computer.
start itunes and wait for it to be fully running
holde down the home button
now plug the phone in and keeping the home button pressed until itunes finds the phone in the recovery mode.

let go of the home button
click on ok

Restore

Start over again, restore and jailbreak.

then go to iphonehacks dot com and read about mms on 2nd gen iphones. should be on the front page or second page

Alright, i'll unplug it and try.

been there
done that
felt the same level of oh sheeet

Now its 30 seconds on damn, then restore and get pissed because I have to reload everything and I lost all my movies

How long should it take for the PC to find the phone and go into recovery mode? I'm also seeing one of the swirlly loading images except it's not moving right behind/underneath apple logo

OK, finally got the thing to go into recovery mode. Sigh of relief, now i'll let itunes do it's work, then i'll try again.

Ok my sheet factor just went up. I just got this message.

The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1604).

What now? My phone now has a blank black screen, the backlight is still on, but no image at all.

What now??

are you restoring to a custom IPSW.

I have had to restore to the official apple ipsw then blackra1n then to the custom ipsw.

no I'm not. Just trying to restore to official apple firmware.

And as far as that forum site with suggestions:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/803023/

There's a lot on that site. I did try the swith USB cable/port and now i'm getting an USB device not recognized message. So that means now itunes and my PC don't know what to do.

I may have to give up for the night, I work early in the morning. I'm just going to have to switch to the Blackberry I use in emergency situations. Tomorrow night I may try more.

I'm hoping that if I let the battery drain over night, it's fully charged now so it may take a long time, maybe that will help tomorrow.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

My iBook totally freaked out and wouldn't restore my iPhone once after a little jailbreak mishap. Gave me all the unknown errors in the book (very bad moment for me)

Next day I went to my boyfriend's and his PC did it all no sweat (restored to official ipsw, then I used redsn0w and it all went without a hitch)

I still have no idea what exactly went wrong, but could be worth a try? Also the fact that you installed Swirly on a 2G shouldn't mean anything, my 2G runs Swirly fine.

Plug it in. Hold both Home and Power for 10 seconds, release Power but keep hold of home for another 10 seconds. iTunes should say it's found a device in recovery mode. Click restore and you're done.

OK, I will make another attempt Sunday afternoon. I had a busy day today, worked, had plans and such. I have plenty of time to get this thing operational.

Now my vacation... with no iphone... begins.

OK, good news. After 30 hours of being off, I plug in my iPhone and charge it a little. I then put it in DFU mode, and success. I got no error 1604 message. So it came back on and I am now restoring it to last version.

Now I'm curious about this CommCenter. Do I find that on Cydia or on the internet? If anyone else has done the method mentioned on the Hackintosh forums (http://www.hackint0sh.org/f207/93057.htm) please give me input.

Almost half way done updating.
