I was just listening to a new CD while importing another one, and as soon as the import was finished I heard a "pop" and the sound dropped out on the song that was playing. Is there a way to troubleshoot the speakers to see if they are busted, or is my best bet to take my computer in here in the last leg of school when I need it the most?

Thanks in advance.

Can you hear anything using headphones? If so, the speakers are busted.

Why don't you take it in after finals?

Can you get any sound at all to come out of the speakers? If not, you aren't required to take your MacBook in the minute the problem arises though. You could just get external speakers to hold you over until you can live without your computer for a week for the repair.

Sorry for the panicked post initially. I haven't tried with headphones yet, and busted speakers aren't the end of the world either. Thanks though for the suggestions...I get a little wound up when something goes wrong with this thing.

My Macbook has done this a couple times. It makes a loud pop, then no sound. But, if I wait for a little bit, then increase and decrease the volume, it comes back. It definitely freaked me out at first though too.
