When I turn my MBA on, I don't hear any noise and a picture of a flashing file comes up with a question mark over it. Does anyone know what this is, and is there anything I can do or do I need to bring it to Apple? Kind of desperate because I need it for a project... thanks.

Well, you'll need an external superdrive and the leopard install discs that your MBA came with. Stick the install disc into the superdrive and boot from it by holding down the "c" key when you turn it on. Then, reinstall leopard.

See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58042

The same thing happened to me last week. Booting to an external drive with the leopard dvd by holding down C works fine. If I run disk utility from the installer, it can't find the hard drive.

Resetting PRAM, SMC, and half a dozen other voodoo startup key combinations did nothing. I ended up sending it to apple for repair.

Well I bought the Superdrive today and before I tried reinstalling I figured I would turn the air on just for one last shot... and it works now! Oh well, I needed the drive anyway. I'm still going to make an appointment at the Apple store so they can diagnose the problem.
