When I went to visit family for the holidays I left my external HDD at home, so it was completely unaccessible for about about 10 days. I left it on, although it was unplugged from any devices, by accident.

Today I tried to hook it up to my Macbook via Firewire, and I had no luck. I tried the other firewire port on the external enclosure, and I had the same result. I eventually found a USB cord and hooked it up that way, and now it's connecting and transferring data no problem.

Is there a way to check if it's my Macbook port without going out and getting a new enclosure?

Thanks for any info.

BTW, this is a baseline original macbook running 10.4.11.

Thanks for any help!

Do you have access to another computer because you can connect you MB to that and then check if it is the MB port.

No other firewire computer immediately handy. Maybe later in the week, though.

Other suggestions?
