I am probably being dumb?

But where is the functionality of linking a file out of the idisk in a email or for the public to download with password?

I can't find it and i am a fully paid up member.

I believe that feature was removed prior to launch. Apple does say that features they advertise are subject to change, so it may be introduced at a later time.

It was supposed to be a launch item but when I went to do it and then see why I couldn't do it on the features page I noticed this:

For now - try yousendit.com. It does pretty much the same thing. I use it all the time to send huge files to clients.

i am missing that feature too. i used idisk a lot lately and they still have some bugs to fix there. with win xp and safari i often can't select any files after clicking upload.
also the web interface for the public folder is pretty poor and exactly the same as it was in .mac. that means you can see your public folder and files on your iphone, but you are not able to open any of them.

try out yourself by visiting http://public.me.com/username
if you have set up a password type in "public" as user and your password when asked
