I traded my nexus 5 for an Onetouch idol 3

I was wanting better battery life and I just got this on a trade. I just unboxed it and set up my Google account but first impressions are great. Screen looks great and I really like the size of the phone, I am very surprised and impressed on first look. I have never heard of this phone until I was offered it on the trade and then I did some reading on it. Anyone here have one?

I've been considering the 4.7 inch model. All I really ever do is call, text, email, google, social networks and check sports scores on my phone these days. I have maybe three games on my phone and couldn't tell you when the last time I played them was or done anything taxing for that matter.

It's just unfortunate the 4.7 has downgraded specs. The 615 and 2gb of RAM would have been nice in that model as well.

I ordered a case for it last night, the phone is really thin and I know I will drop it. I really like it. I was going to get the new Moto G but I think I will probably be better off with this. It came with a bunch of crap preinstalled bit I could uninstall most of it and disable the rest. I installed Nova and have it set up like a normal do, not missing the Nexus at all

I have it and it is a steal for the price. I never really kept track of battery life, I am not a heavy user so easily lasts through the day.

I pointed out elsewhere it is 50/50 for folks who would choose the Zenfone 2 instead. I was also going to try the latter but decided against it since I am very happy with the Idol for the price.

Battery is my main concern with a phone, if I can get 3-4 hours screen on time I will be good. It is simply amazing the level of a budget phone you can get now for the money. I only paid 140 for my Nexus so that is all I am in this phone, unbelievable value

First full day and I am very pleased. I have been off the charger for almost 14 hours and used it heavily today, battery is at 9% and I have 4h44m screen on time. that is about twice as good as my Nexus 5 and at least an hour 1.5 better than my Nexus 6. A couple sample pics, it isn't anything special but I prefer my dslr for pics anyway. The pics were taken on auto and resized in Microsoft Paint

Not bad pics at all. In focus, no overly exposed elements. Seriously not bad at all.

Is it the back texture of phone that makes it slippery or a combination of that and it's thinness ?

How's peformance treating you otherwise. Is UI snappy and responsive?

I recently had this phone and the ZenFone 2 at the same time.

The Idol 3 screen is gorgeous. But, the UI is laggy! I loved the very light weight of the phone. It definitely didn't feel like a 5.5" screen in the hand. The battery wasn't bad at all, either. If it wasn't for the lag, I'd have kept this phone. For the price, it's overall, it's a great phone.

I must not be sensitive to lag, seemed smooth to me. My oldest son ended up taking this phone from me, he had an iphone 5 but loves this phone

Reviews say it comes stressed for gaming. I tool around with puzzle and running games mostly so no concern for me. If one games with more intensity, the Zenfone 2 is the one recommended. The caveats though are the bloat that comes with that device and the display is not as good looking as the Idol.

For gaming, don't get the Idol 3. Get the ZenFone 2. It is MUCH better in terms of gaming. If the ZF2 had the thinnest, front facing speakers and screen of the Idol 3, it could very much be a flagship killer at that price.
