Earlier this year I bought a 4th gen 12.9 Pro and ended up trading it for an M1 MacBook Pro. I already have an M1 Air so. I didn’t need it but the trade was way in my favor so I did it. I have had it on Facebook marketplace for awhile and yesterday I traded it for an iMac. The guy was wanting something portable so it worked out in my favor again.

Now I am debating on if I should keep this or my Air, I’m leaning towards the Air since it is portable and I do have a 32” monitor I can use if I want. But as cheap as I am in this iMac I am thinking about just keeping it and my Air, I could probably use this iMac for years and sell it for how much I am in it. As far as performance, this and my Air should be the same right?

I believe the base iMac has active cooling so there will be a small performance gain over the Air. Not much, single digit percentage points, but a small gain.

I would keep both personally or sell both and get a 16" base MBP?

Seems like no matter what you do you should be happy!

I would keep both as well.

I have an M1 Air and an M1 Mini and feel well-served by the two.

Desktops should be desktops and laptops laptops.
