1. Do you get to keep the songs at 256kbps quality once you cancel the service? Or do they go back to the quality you had before the service?

2. Can you listen to all your songs on your iphone without an Wifi connection w/o it running up all your 3G Data? ( i would like to listen to all my songs but only have 200mb data)

1) Yes. You have to download them first though. When you first run Match, it will either Match or upload all of your songs. Then, delete the local versions and redownload them to get the AAC's.

2) Yes, you can. However, do the initial setup on Wifi. It'll download your entire library file as well as all the album art, and could easily eat a big chunk of your bandwidth for the month doing that. Plus you can predownload your playlists. After that, it'll use very little bandwidth.

So you can basically have 25,000 songs in your cache without downloading or putting any space on your iphone space?

just ordered it, Damn this sucks.
You basically have to download or play every single song on your iphone in order to have it on your iphone

what a ripoff.

No, I think you misinterpreted the concept of iTunes Match.
It is NOT a streaming service. It is a match service for music that is not 256Kbps AAC or "High-quality Audio" as Apple puts it.

It caches the song over a network (ie; Wi-Fi/Internet or Cellular Data/3G/4G)
you can simply download the songs you want then remove them and add others or easily enough create a playlist and download just that set.

Its a simple idea, its not a streaming service.

so do you have to wait after iTunes match finish uploading your songs to get you're 256 quality songs? Because all my songs still showing as 160 quality. how do i get the 256kbps songs on my iTunes?

Because it's been uploading for 4 hours and only uploaded 181 songs so far...It doesn't take that long to download 1000 songs what the hell is this. i'll have to leave my computer on for weeks for it to upload all my songs.

you can't even pause the uploading in case you want to finish another day :(

It matches what it can and uploads the rest. The uploads won't have any quality improvements...just a copy of the same file stored on their servers. The match process is already done if its uploading. The trick now is to get it to redownload the matched 256 files to replace your current ones. I can't remember though if you can have it do this before the initial upload is complete though.
