iPod I Tunes V 9 won't sync podcasts

Could someone help me with a very frustrating problem. I have the latest Nano and upgraded to I Tunes V 9. However since upgrading, all my podcasts disappeared from the ipod directory. Also most of my playlists disappeared also. When I try to sync podcasts I can't find them. They are all on I tunes but when I sync they don't appear. :( Would really appreciate some help
