I was holding my iPad Pro and iPhone X last night and the idea hit me. I would love to have an iPad Mini with the X's design. It would be the perfect size with I guess around a 9 inch display? I ride on the train and it would work perfectly for reading comics and surfing the web. I know that Apple wants the iPad to be a computer replacement so it isn't likely...a boy can dream though.

How much extra cash are you willing to part with if the iPad mini would receive these upgrades? I know the mini is a popular device but at what stage would it become too expensive?

OP, email Tim Cook what you want politely. Maybe if enough people email him about wanting a Mini with the updated features, he'll look at the bottom line and perhaps do something about the iPad Mini. Once I am reemployed, I intend to do just that.

If Apple ever launches such a product, i'll literally throw my credit card at Apple for one, price be damned.

Same prices as the iPad Pro 10.5” - starting price of $650.

Yep. I’d be all over that. I probably would pay around $600 for it. Or hopefully get it on sale for Black Friday.

Sign me up for one as well, the mini for me is the perfect size as it makes the perfect toilet companion, browse with one hand, wipe with the other, that's what you call multi tasking.

Returning my Mini 4 that arrived this week in the hope Tim reads our demands. Whilst the Mini 4 runs iOS 11 ok, you do have the odd stutter which is a reminder of this thing would die when introduced to iOS 12.

To be honest I wouldn't be too fussed if it didn't have Face ID, not like I won't have my fingers with me when using, a spec update is a must though.

But all the rumors so far suggest iOS 12 is mostly a series of refinements to iOS 11, instead of a big jump. Now, if we’re talking about iOS 13, the mini 4 will very likely feel sluggish on it, since that’s supposed to introduce a new home screen layout and more.

Either way, we need a mini refresh. If not an increase in RAM, at least a new A10 processor or better. An A8 (or even an A9) in 2018 is no longer cutting edge at all. Having it also be an edge-to-edge display would be icing on the cake.

Good to see fellow iPad Mini lovers here...the screen doesn't have to be OLED. That might cut cost. This thing is never happening, but the X Plus will be kinda close.

Not even remotely close lol.

you burst my pathetic bubble.

Heh... not directed at you ofc, but in general I get tired at how others compare the Plus phones with the iPad mini.

If you compare the 9.7" iPad to the 7.9" iPad mini, it really only has a 50% size advantage - http://displaywars.com/7,9-inch-4x3-vs-9,7-inch-4x3.

A lot of people vastly underestimate how much larger the iPad mini's screen is compared to any smartphone out there. It's a really big screen, while still being able to fit in most coat pockets - the most portable iPad in Apple's lineup. Really wish people would stop looking at it as just a "cheap iPad"....

If you're willing to make it a little wider (and perhaps a few mm taller) you could put the original 9.7" screen in there. So it wouldn't even be all that "mini". I'm in the market for a new iPad but waiting to see where Apple will go with the next generation. Personally I think no home button and FaceID makes *more* sense on the iPad than the iPhone—especially given iOS 11 which is awkward on the iPhone but great on the iPad (IMO). So I'm here hoping with you!

iPad Mini with A11X with OLED for $1,200!

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I'd actually buy that.
