I doubt Columbus is a central hub for big city activity. I live at least four hours from any Apple store. In fact, I don't think Louisiana even has a store.

It took us until last year to get one in Gwinnett County, and it's "all the way" up at the Mall of Georgia (a good 25 miles for me). Simply put, don't count on it. Apple isn't going to get hyper-aggressive with the stores in this economy no matter how bad Circuit City is doing.

But at least you're not in the Dothan area like a lot of my relatives. Their closest store is Birmingham. Hard for me to pitch them the Apple stuff in such a climate. It's also insanely hard to get old farts to change, especially if they use PCs at work.

An apple reseller place opened in my town recently! It looks just like an apple store, except no geniuses.

There are actually only 2 Apple stores in Atlanta. I always go to the one in Lenox Square mall. I want a store 1.5 hours in the opposite direction from Atlanta so I could have one in Chattanooga, TN.

An actual Apple Store is different than a reseller though. You get a unique feeling and experience when you go into an Apple Store. Maybe Apple keeps the stores so sparse because they want people to get that feeling and extra... i guess pizzazz, when they go in. I'm getting an iPhone on the 16th, and I will definitley be making the hour to trip to the Apple Store Mall of GA, instead of going to a regular best buy or AT&T store

Closest apple store for me is 2 hour drive away...
And when I get there, I can go to 4 Apple Stores nearby all at ONCE and it'll take me less than 40 minutes...
Ridiculous..

but where I live, I have two big apple authorized retail stores, one of them is just as big as the apple stores I go to with more knowledgeable people than those notreallyageniuses...

And they have most of the parts in stock already, so even switching my LCD screen took less than a day :)

Bummer.

I live less than 5 miles from an Apple Store!

there are 3 apple stores less all less than 10 miles from me:) Plus all the authorized Mac/Apple resellers around. I guess you take that for granted. I cant imagine if my logicboard had gone out and i wasnt able to make an appoinment at any of the apple stores for the next few days.

Always a day away
I noticed 2 Apple Stores in Las Vegas, and they're walking distance from each other - one in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and the other in Fashion Show Mall next to Treasure Island. I thought it was a bit odd. I've been to 4 in the DFW area but they're much more spread out.

The two stores in Vegas make sense to me... the Strip is a walking thing... and people tend to stay near their own casinos. I have a feeling neither store is hurting for clients, lol...

The nice thing about living in the Bay Area is that Apple Stores abound! There are 4 stores all within an hour of me.... :)
