Hello,

I currently have a sidekick w/ T mobile. I want to get an iphone and unlock it. My question is will I be able to use safari and applications with my sidekick unlimited plan w/ tmobile? if not, is there something i can subscribe to at tmobile to get access to safari and applications?

Also, can i just walk into the apple store and purchase an iphone without signing up w/ att?

No sure about the T-Mobile stuff, but no, you can't just walk in and buy an iPhone. They will sign you up for a 2yr contract with AT&T. You'll need to find someone selling their iPhone. You can then jailbreak and unlock the device, disable 3G and use on T-Mobile's network.

I read on here recently that tmobile's no longer letting you use the sidekick plans with an iPhone. I'm UK based so don't know much about it but there are alternatives. Use mroogle to find out more:

It will be easier to buy one second hand and then jailbreak, activate and unlock it.

I did this for a couple of friends on T-Mo. One had an old $20 month plan data only plan and poped in his sim changed some settings and he was good to go.

The other had to get the $40 plan although I think if you have voice already you can get a $24.99 data add on that includes 400 text. Check their site.

They were both wanted data only because they had voice plans from work with unlimited use.

Safari, YouTube and all data accessing application worked no issues.

You can go to Bestbuy or Apple store and ask them for a iPhone full price (I think it's 700 or so), and they'll sell it to you without a contract.
