i want MobileMe to stay :(

Also Box.net had an IOS5 special that gave users a 50G storage space for life (not sure if that is still active).
I use Box.net for storage, and the free Dropbox for xferring files quickly. Both solutions are faster than my old iDisk access.
iDisk is nice because it just integrates, but so does Dropbox. Box.net is a little more work, but it's been working well for more permanent storage.
As for Gallery, that I do lament losing, but again there are alternatives, even if they aren't as integrated.

Oh yes I have faced it!! I have had a Drop Box account since 2008 and Sugar Sync since July 2011. Have had Kodak, Yahoo, My Multiply, Flickr, Picassa, etc some since late 90's. Have prepared for the change! Doesn't mean I can't agree with the poster that shutting down these Apple Services is disheartening for me. It will forever color my view of Apple.
Nothing compares to iDisk and Gallery. Doesn't mean I don't agree that losing those is a big mistake- not for Apple, they aren't getting the Revenue they need. But has opened the discussion as to how much trust the loyal user can place on a Apple service striving for improvement instead of replacing trusted features. I am reluctant to join iCloud knowing that in a few years Apple might say they are pulling the plug. In my mind they are now just another completive service. I will continue diversifying my services to get the job done but nothing else has brightened my day as much as Gallery. Gallery and iDisk were my personal cloud experiences.

Is it Fall yet? I know much the about the iCloud transition, but none came through the official MobileMe channels. EPIC FAIL. In the meantime, Apple, I encourage you to actually provide the services your customers paid for, rather than an upgrade to a 'free' service which requires me to get a new iPhone to run the new iOS and a new Mac to run the new MacOS. This is the

I second that. I used to share how WOWed I was making the switch to a MAC. Now my responses are more cautious- neither is better or worse, just different. Microsoft gradually offers less and less support for a service and eventually the end user finds something different to replace it while Apple gives notification of the date that the service will cease entirely. Both build customer expectations. Both disappoint. I have a gut feeling that Lion is like Vista. Somewhere there was a major change. I went from Win XP to Apple OS X. Perhaps I will be able to avoid Lion. Only time will tell.
With Dropbox you just put any files you want synced into the Dropbox folder (or any subfolder within it) and it automatically syncs. It will be available on any other computer you have Dropbox installed on or the Dropbox website.
Also, there is a photo gallery feature built into Dropbox. All you have to do is put a folder full of pictures into the Photos folder.
To tootall re: good sync
I use a program called Good Sync Pro for Mac. It allows me to sync any folder or file, including keychain to any other computer, Mac or Win across any paired or network or FTP connection.
This is extremely useful for syncing not only my User Folder between 3 MACs but my "joint folders". I can keep a folder for home maintenance, taxes, contracts, banking, etc that both myself and my spouse need to be able to access and modify on my Macs or his Windows.
Good Sync not only keeps our shared folders synced, it also does an auto backup and user controlled archive. Under Goid Sync, the back up device is not required to be connected directly to the computer.
For others dealing with file syncs between different user accounts it is a complement to the other storage sync solutions mentioned.

I agree with the OP...it really seems that iCloud should have been offered as an OPTION to MobileMe.
My apps sync? Wow. ALL my music syncs to all my devices? Great. I'd rather pick and choose what gets synced.

The big beef is with iDisk. I completely understand "upgrading" MobileMe, but why take away a feature that is clearly used by many people. I want a TRUE sync feature. The "drag and drop" solution offered by Apple, is not a true replacement.
Pages documents sync on iOS devices, why not include your Mac???
