I'm 18.5 years old and have used a Gmail address since 2008, a couple of other Gmail addresses since then, my current iCloud address since about 2013, and now a college email since last year.

The first Gmail account now has almost 20,000 messages in it, all read (I read all messages that come in, I don't have 5,000 unread messages). The others are under 1000 messages.

The thing is, iCloud mail just works, period. It syncs easily and is pushed between devices. My Yahoo mailbox tends to work the same way. What's the easiest way to stop using Gmail? Also, how can I create a new iCloud email to get rid of my "alias?"

Do you have a Mac? In Mac Mail you can add multiple Accounts and then move mail folders between multiple accounts.

If switching to a new email address I recommend have the old email forwarded to your new email address until you have told everyone about the new address.

If you want to create a new iCloud Email Address then simply create a New iCloud Account.

Yeah, I have a 2014 rMBP (had a 2010 Mac Mini, has since been sold), and a 5s. For years I've had 5-7 inboxes for mail, but now I only want 1 or 2 with only a few messages in the inbox portion and the rest archived. My mail reading habits have changed since I was 13 or 14.

Creating a new iCloud account seems to be the best option for this, but it would involve migrating and syncing a lot of stuff. When I get free time I think this is what i'll do.

I ditched my gmail and yahoo accounts. Since I use my gmail as my Apple ID I just set it up to forward all mail to my iCloud account. I rarely get anything anymore from it though since I've switched everything over to icloud on all accounts and websites that need my email address.
