I have a large photo library that I want to partially copy to much smaller MicroSD chip on a repeated timeline like every month or so. I am thinking an AppleScript that will check size of library, size of chip and them copy every 3 or 4 filenames to that chip. Any samples out there, any suggestions ? Better ideas ? Thanks

I believe that CarbonCopyCloner can do this for you.

It has the option to "de-select" files that you DO NOT WANT COPIED during a cloned backup.

I believe it would be possible for you to "deselect everything" EXCEPT FOR those folders/files you wanted to copy, and then CCC would create a cloned backup based on your choices.
You could then "save this" as a backup "script" that could be run when you opened CCC.

When you ran "updates", it would maintain your choices exactly as you wished.

CCC is FREE to download and try for 30 days.
It will cost you nothing to experiment with it and see if this fulfills your requirements...
