I want to return to Snow Leopard, but it is impossible!!

I need help! I want to reinstall Snow Leopard ( as a matter of fact I need to do so ) but it is not working! First I created a new partition, inserted Snow media in the superdrive, and restart throug the initialization disk. But the media runs, runs runs and nothing happens! All I've got is the grey Apple and nothing more! I had to pull the plug to restart pressing " Option " to go back to Lion. The superdrive is working fine...Can someone help me here?!!!:(
 
C'mon people! Don't just install this over your existing OS. Hook up an external drive, and you can install Lion there - and it will migrate EVERYTHING over, while leaving Snow Leopard intact. Hold the Option key when booting up, and you can choose between disks (or partitions).

Did you not read all the post on the Apple Dev Forums you posted on? They gave you the answer!
 
Guys, I did not download it on TPB or Demonoid or any other place. I'm a Apple Developer and download it from Developer web site. I've post this problem there too, but all the answers so far, did not help. I thought someone here could help. I think you people did not understand what happened here ( and maybe I did not explain clearly ). I made a lot of experiences here: Installed the first Developer preview in another partition ( still running SL, of course ); Deleted completely SL to do a Lion clean install; Partitioned Lion HD to install Snow Leopard, etc. And all worked fine. But now, running Developer Preview two ( with the last update ) I can't install SL. I've already tried C and Option but nothing. When I press Option what I have is Lion HD and Recovery HD ( instead of Mac OS X Install ). When I press C, what I have is that grey Apple icon ( no spinning bars below it). There is nothing wrong with the media. I've tested it in my wife's iMac and it is ok. Nothing wrong with the super drive also. The only thing different was my attempt to install Ubuntu here a few days ago, but I deleted it few minutes later ( grub ). So, someone who are a real expert in Mac could help me, I would thank very much...:rolleyes:

If you want to go back to Snow Leopard from Lion, you _must_ remove the Restore partition that Lion installs. This means that you _must_ boot from a different Lion volume and run Disk Utility on the volume you want restore to Snow Leopard and _delete the partitions there_. _All of the partitions there_. Then you reformat, and boot up _holding down the option key_ with a Snow Leopard install disc in the optical drive. You will see the install disc, and it will be able to install on your now empty volume.
 
So, if I'm understanding correctly, what you're saying is you can't boot to your Snow Leopard disc?

Question for you. What sort of disc is this? A retail version of Snow Leopard? Or the one that came with your wife's iMac?

If it's the one that came with your wife's iMac, you won't be able to use it with your computer.

Use either a retail version of Snow Leopard, or the version of OS X that came with your Mac to completely format your drive (you WILL lose all of your data) and then reinstall OS X from said CD.

My retail version. Well I hadn't enough patient and sent it to one of Apple's Authorized here in Brasilia. Enough of stress for today...:rolleyes:

Sorry flwolffan I didn't get it. But your information seems to be very important. Could you more...didactic, please?:D
 
Lion creates a new Restore Partition. SL does not know how to handle it. Before you restore SL you must remove it. If you don't, SL won't even install. The easiest way to remove it is with the version of Disk Utility which ships with Lion.

This kind of problem is exactly why you should install test OSes on volumes other than your one and only internal volume.

And, oh, unless the local Apple Store guys have access to the correct version of Disk Utility they may have a small problem reinstalling SL, too. it may be easier to remove the hard drive and put a new one in. I hope you have AppleCare.

All you need to do is the following:

1.) Boot from Snow Leopard media.
2.) Run Disk Utility and partition the disk to one new partition
3.) Install Snow Leopard as normal.
4.) Reinstall any files and apps.

It's pretty simple and it works. If you are really a developer I'm not sure why you just didn't do this.

Can you give some more details about the migration you mentioned? Are you saying that if Lion detects a SL install on the machine during installation, it will migrate apps and data from the SL install over to the Lion installation?
