Apple website is offering £240 but when I say that the physical condition is not good (only because there are two dents) it says to recycle .. and doesn’t give me £240, any other way?

If there is a local Apple store open near you, it is better to do the trade in in person. You would get assessed in person and offered a price at the same time. If one is not open, consider selling on Swappa or take your chances on eBay, which I don't suggest.

I want to put money towards a new MacBook , why don’t you suggest eBay?
Secondly , do you think they’d reduce the price they are offering online because of the dents?

Dents = price reduction.

As to eBay, it is easy to get scammed by a buyer making a claim after the sale that it was not as advertised or some other garbage. You might get lucky and get a good buyer. Just be very, very clear in your listing and providing detailed photos.
