Check out this thread, it'll save you money and mean you will have more RAM as it is only 1 stick vs 2. So you can keep one of the original sticks in there making 2.5GBs.

feyn-man no worries mate

@nikhsub1

They are the same SP(ee)D and the match pair thing has been debated and tested lots and from all I have seen it makes no difference that an end user can see. Therefore 2.5 GBs is better than 2 GBs.

Perhaps but you won't be running in dual channel with mismatched sizes... and 4GB > 2.5GB :D

yeah but as I said all the evidence I have seen shows that dual channel mode gives no performance benefits.

And 2.5 GBs is more than I need so 2.5 GBs + £50 is better than 4GBs.

Ohm, that's interesting. Does anybody can figure out the benifit of dual channel mode?

Hi, guys. I noticed that two product:
http://www.buy.com/prod/kingston-1g...m-ddr2-laptop-memory/q/loc/101/204884016.html
and
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=206341199&adid=17916&dcaid=17916

from the picture, I found the 2GB one have 8 chips while 1GB one only 4. Is that said the size of them will be different? I'm confused which one should I use?

Well the 2GB chip has twice as much ram as the 1GB chip ... can you see where this is going... and 8 is twice as much as 4.

In all seriousness they will both fit and both work in the MB.
