I was just at a microcenter and I was playing with the 27" iMac as it was beautiful. I love the screen size and the resolution did not bother me at all (being too small) and it made me think about buying one right there and then!

Anyway, as I was playing with the iMac, I saw the yellow tint issue that everyone was talking about. The left portion of the screen had a yellow tinge as to the right having a purple/blue push. At first I thought it wasnt that big of a deal but after 15 minutes of use (even with the bright fluorescent lights in the store) the yellow tinge issue became more apparent.

I dont know how to explain it but it felt like I was looking at a pissy yellow screen. I'm sure the model that I was playing with was an older 27" that has been out there since it was first released. Now after using one I really want one but my issue now is about the yellow tinge issue!

Can anyone give me any positive feedback on a recent purchase on a 27" iMac??

Mine bought in January. No issues. First one. And you know how picky I am. :)

I live in Orange County CA and just for fun I've been going to BB and the Apple Stores and testing for screen problems by logging on to Mac Rumors and running the screen tests so far every screen is fine.

Two of three i7 models I bought have been yellow-free. The other had the lightest discoloration at the very bottom of the screen only. I've kept both the two I've mentioned.

All of the 27" screens I've looked at in the 5th ave store in NYC have varying degrees of yellow tint, too.

Several friends have returned their iMacs a few times with one of them just getting a full refund. The others just settled with having some degree of yellow on their screen.

The computer is great, it just has inconsistent color across the screen. This is inherent in the design.

I'd wait for the next revision. Much safer than buying now.

It's hit or miss it seems. I went through 5 returns before finally getting my money back.

I went with a mini and a non Apple display. I really want an iMac, but I'm just going to wait for the next refresh.
