Hi again everyone I was thinking about buying a Mac Mini off the refurb store when they come available. Not sure if I should wait or not I also like to use iDVD alot how long does it take to encode a 700mb avi movie file and then burn it on a DVD with the 2.0ghz processor? if it really slow I might just get an iMac just want to save some money.

Considering how long it's has been since the last mini update, buying one now might not be a good idea.

Does any one think there will be a price increase on the mini though? The biggest reason I like the mini so much is that I can get a decent intel processor so I can keep up with other macs for just $599, while it may be worth it if they got it to 2.4 for an extra $100-$200 would I or anyone else still be interested in the mini quite as much?

Also on this topic how differnt are the current proccesors for it, the 1.83 and 2.0? I know the extra $200 for the later is also for the superdrive and the bigger HD but thats not as cool and un-upgradeable as the prossesor, is it worth the $$ if I dont need the extra HD and burning capabilty?

I really wish Apple would update the Mini in september. I was also looking at the refurbished models, but now i think if there will be an update for about a similar price, than why did i pay that much amount for the old technology?

I also hope, the the internal graphic will be updated. If not by a dedicated card (that can be simply changed), than by the Intel GMA X3100, maybe it would be even better X4500HD... not much difference, but anyway, much more powerfull, than the G950.

Also, they could raise the RAM to 4 GB...

Depends on the price strategy of the MacTouch coming out in Sep and whether they plan to position the new mini as a media center (replacing the AppleTV).

I would say wait. It's either going to get updated or discontinued eventually. Either way, your decision will be made for you, hopefully sometime fairly soon.

BTW, the processor can be upgraded. I don't know the details, but there have been threads about people doing it.

People have been asking this question since around March (I was thinking about buying a Mini back then), and no-one had any answers then.

However the wait can't go on much longer, so I think it's definitely worth holding off for a couple more weeks.

With my line of work, I get this question a lot. In my opinion, it's not a bad idea to get it now. That way, you can enjoy it immediately. The resale market is so good for the mini that when the new ones arrive you can likely sell if for only a $50-$100 loss if you think the new one is worth the upgrade. (But if that upgrade is two months away, I'd say the $50 is worth using it for the two months.)

Jeez almost everything says its going to be updated soon. Apple just doesn't care about computers anymore, its obvious.

If thats true, than Apple is on the wrong road and soon going down...
the computers did them the favor, to become that, what they are today. Not the iPods or iPhone.

And i did think, that the transition to Intel was the only bad thing.

INTEL switch a bad deal? NOT HARDLY! MOTO is yesterdays news. They were incapable of keeping up with Apples growth structure.
Apple plans on selling 45 MILLION i-Phones 3G's this year. They are no longer Apple Computers, just Apple, draw your own conclusions.but wait, maybe they want to do /have it all? Computer sales up 45%, we'll know soon, I predict a complete line refresh, coming in September. MB,MBA,Mini,PB,,even the top of the line tower, as well as the release of a new Tablet PC, all in September.
That ought to shut us all up:D:rolleyes::eek::eek::apple::apple::apple::apple:
