Switching this year from the 12PM to the 13 Mini due to preferring the size after a hands on with the 12 Mini I was initially concerned about a massive hit in battery life. It seems the 13 Mini battery life is well on its way to being as good as the 12PM anyway 😂

Hmm, is that the Apple Store app you took that from? If so, Apple apparently has a discrepancy, because this is what Apple's website has:

One spec that surprised me no matter which one of these is correct is that the 13 Mini shows a longer video streaming time than the 12PM. Wonder how that can be? Of course your 13 Mini has a smaller screen on its side (obviously requires less power) to help mediate the smaller battery.

I think the new video encoders and decoders allow the battery life for video specifically to be a lot better than before but that won’t necessarily translate to all tasks. I could be wrong though. We’ll find out more on the coming days and weeks.

Yeah I took it directly from the apple store app. I did wonder if it was correct so I selected the devices twice to make sure I hadn’t clicked on the incorrect one… strange how it’s showing different for you!

I think another way to look at it is the 13 mini now matches the battery life of the regular 12, although it is very interesting that the 13 mini can 'stream' video longer than the 12 PM. Like Devyn89 stated, the new Video encoders/decoders on the A15 are much more efficient in battery usage compared to the A14.

It's not just for me - you can see it yourself if you follow the link I gave you and compare the devices using Apple's website (not the Apple Store app).

I switched from an 11 pro max to the 13 mini and the mini’s battery life is noticeably and significantly worse. I knew it would be worse but I didn’t realize how bad it would be. The mini can’t handle light we’d browsing and Pokémon Go for more than a couple hours

I switched from a galaxy s20 plus… i’ve got to say the battery on this 13 pro is outstanding, only going to get better with software updates too (or at least thats now android worked 😅)

Can’t say I’ve found that to be my experience. The 13 Mini battery has been great for web browsing and general day to day stuff. Typing this now I have 30% battery and I took it off charge at 9am. Then again I don’t play childrens games 😛
