I woke my mac mini today and the resolution had reverted to 800x600

Mid-2010 mini.

When trying to select a different resolution, many of them give a "display not supported" error. I imagine the error either lies with the graphics card, or with the monitor.

I've got a plan in mind for testing, however I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem before.

Never had that problem, but if I did, I'd just reboot, set the resolution correctly, and forget about it.

Rebooted...can't select the resolution I had previously.

Sounds like a graphic card problem. Good luck.

I've had that happen with my Air + 24" LED Cinema Display once or twice. For me, it required power cycling the monitor to fix it.

Never had that problem on my mid 2010 mini.

Power cycled the mini and the display for 5 minutes and it seems to have resolved the issue (for now).

Very odd.

Similar thing happened to me on dual displays - one display reverted to 800x600 and the other wasn't detected.

Power cycled the monitors a few times and all came back to normal.

Weird.
