Hi guys,

I was looking for an 8 core Mac Pro at good price (less than 1500€) and finally found it and won the auction on eBay. The auction finished with 1385€ (without the shipping costs that must be less than 100€). Is the 2008 model (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/stats/mac-pro-eight-core-2.8-2008-specs.html) with no upgrades, but Im going to put a Radeon 6870, 6GB more of RAM on it, and probably I'll overclock the CPU's to 3.2Ghz with the ZDNet Clock tool.

What do u think -despite the fact that Mac Pros are overpriced-, has it been a good deal or not?

Regards,
Daniel.

Sounds good to me.

You will need to spend at least $400 to get some
more RAM (8gb with 2gb sticks, FBDIMMs with heat spreader are expensive) and around $200 for a Radeon 5870 or $100 for a 5770.

Then around $150 all together for a nice HDD and a backup disk.

All up you're still ahead of a base DP Mac Pro by about a thousand dollars. Nice!

I forgot to say that I'll upgrade too with my 120GB SSD (Mushkin Callisto) for the OS, and one 1.5TB Samsung EcoGreen F3 for storage

Mac Pro 08 octos usually fetch about $2000 secondhand, depending on upgrades in them, it varies.
€1500 = $2160 so you are bang on the money, nice result m8y. :)
